Remote access for VS-NfD:
BSI renew approval for the ECOS SECURE BOOT STICK
A further development of the ECOS SECURE BOOT STICK product family is now available.
Especially interesting for customers and interested parties who have high security requirements: The German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) has approved the SECURE BOOT STICK [SX] variant for processing data up to classification level VS-NfD.
The approval now also covers the classification levels EU-Restricted and NATO-Restricted. By extending the approval to these international classifications, the ECOS SECURE BOOT STICK [SX] offers companies, public authorities and organizations even more opportunities for the future. The solution is, for example, now suited for companies, federal authorities and applications in the area of the German Armed Forces or critical infrastructures (KRITIS).
Additional security features
And this is not everything yet. All ECOS SECURE BOOT STICK variants benefit from a substantial update, including revised and enhanced security functions as well as new features. To prevent manipulation, all sticks can now check the guest computer for potential alterations by hardware fingerprinting. Configuration and runtime data is stored in RAM in an encrypted and integer form to protect memory images against espionage. Compatibility has been further improved to allow end-users to work with a variety of different hardware. The bootloader has also been updated in this respect.
Further innovations are available depending on the variant. These include a step-by-step hardware activation of single memory partitions as well as a selective hardware write protection of partitions. In some variants, the key material is stored exclusively on the smartcard to further increase the security level.
